JAMIL AND NYANGA JAWARD FOUNDATION ENGAGES WIDOWS’ LEADERSHIP FOR TRANSFORMATION AND SUSTAINABLE SUPPORT


The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation held a stakeholder meeting with the chairladies representing widows from ten communities in Freetown. The purpose of this meeting was to actively engage with the leadership of these widows and gain a comprehensive understanding of their challenges while exploring how the foundation could intervene and provide assistance. The event also aimed to familiarize the widows with the foundation's mission, vision, and unwavering commitment to championing the cause of widows and impoverished children.

Mr. Jamil Jaward, the co-founder and CEO of the foundation, addressed the widows, explaining the foundation's purpose and how it advocates for the rights of widows and children. He emphasized the need for patience, highlighting that sustainable help cannot be achieved overnight. Mrs. Nyanga Jaward expressed gratitude to the widows for their unwavering support and encouraged them to continue collaborating with the foundation in their efforts to uplift their communities and fellow widows.

During the meeting, the widows shared their numerous challenges, ranging from lack of access to proper medical care, inadequate housing, and financial difficulties in providing for their families. They also expressed concerns about their children dropping out of school due to financial constraints. In response, the widows expressed their appreciation for the continued support from Mr. and Mrs. Jaward while beseeching them to address these challenges and provide lasting solutions.

Aruna Kamara, a field staff member of the foundation, expressed gratitude to the widows for sharing their experiences. He assured them that he, along with his team and the foundation's founders, would carefully examine the challenges presented and work towards providing better and sustainable aid. The aim is to empower the widows to overcome these obstacles and lead lives filled with hope and possibilities.
