PROBLEM

STATEMENT.

Widows' are one of the most vulnerable groups in Africa and are faced with multiple conflicting social challenges. One of the major challenges faced by widows in Sierra Leone is financial difficulty.

85% of widows report a variety of financial problems.

A large number experience financial difficulties in meeting the basic needs of children such as:

Financial and mental strains to maintain previous living standards.

Responsibility to pay back loans taken by their husbands.

In addition to the financial burden, a widows status is defined by a diverse group of interrelated & inter-sectional factors:

“Levi-rate Marriage Tradition” this is a practice that forces a widow to marriage the surviving brother or leaves with nothing.

“Deprivation of Widows’ Inheritance Right” this is enabled by the husbands’ relatives leaving widows with no inheritance.

They become isolated them from their families & communities and left responsible for the care and support of the children with no safety net.

DONATE TO A PROJECT.

Here are some projects we have ongoing that we kindly ask members of the public to donate money towards funding.

Our valuable work can only continue for as long as people have the kindness to help those in need. Every donation counts, and we make sure that every penny goes to someone who needs it most.

Light A Rural Home

Help us reach our goal by donating to light up one home for as little as $30/£25 or several homes.

Your contribution will improve the quality of life through:

1. Improved safety and security by eliminating the use of potentially dangerous candles, open flame or kerosene lamps.

2. Improve education by extending study hours at night safely.

3. Help improve family finances by eliminating the purchase of kerosene or candles.
