Our Story

Prior to its establishment in 2017, the founders had laid the groundwork for their vision by empowering widows with small business grants in the Central African Republic (CAR). They orchestrated a celebration of unity, bringing smiles to the faces of children from both Muslim and Christian backgrounds with a festivity that warmed hearts and fostered togetherness.

With a partnership approach, the foundation has since woven a tapestry of aid, aligning with charitable organizations to extend its hand of hope across Africa. From the schoolchildren of Liberia and Malawi, who now shoulder their dreams in the form of donated school bags, to the teenage souls in Liberia reclaiming their dignity after sexual violence, the foundation has been a beacon of restoration.

The widows of Sierra Leone have found in the foundation a pillar of support, receiving not just shelter but the means to rebuild their livelihoods. Orphanages bask in the foundation's generosity with monthly sustenance, ensuring that the vulnerable are not forgotten.

In a significant stride towards institutionalising their charitable vision, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation was officially registered in Sierra Leone in June 2018. This pivotal moment was not just a formality but a reaffirmation of their dedication to the cause of humanity. The foundation was now poised to expand its outreach and operational capacity, armed with the recognition of the Sierra Leonean government.

One of the foundation's landmark initiatives, the ‘Support Our Military Campaign,’ celebrated military families, fostering community spirit and gratitude. Furthermore, with the ambitious School Backpack Donation program, the foundation armed 1,000 schoolchildren with the tools for education, supporting the national vision for free quality education.
