THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS REGISTRATIONS TO EXPAND THE SOCIAL INCOME PROGRAM FOR WIDOW

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation, in partnership with Social Income, is actively expanding its social income initiative to provide financial assistance to elderly widows who are unable to work. Through this program, selected widows receive monthly financial support to help cover basic living expenses and avoid the need to resort to begging on the streets.

The foundation's field staff recently conducted a registration drive to identify and register additional widows in vulnerable communities, aiming to increase the number of beneficiaries. This initiative is focused on reaching the most disadvantaged widows who lack the means to sustain themselves.

Hawa Bintu Dauda, a dedicated community development officer at the foundation, emphasized the life-changing impact of the program on these widows. She highlighted that the financial assistance they receive not only helps them meet their daily needs but also provides them with dignity and prevents them from having to beg for survival.

Furthermore, Solomon Temgbeh, another committed community development officer, outlined the meticulous procedures followed to ensure that the most deserving widows, who have no other means of support and are unable to work, are prioritized for the program. The goal is to ensure the assistance reaches those who need it most.

With the recent registration drive, the foundation aims to expand its support network, providing a crucial lifeline to more elderly widows across Freetown’s most underserved communities. The ongoing partnership with Social Income continues to play a pivotal role in alleviating the financial burdens faced by these widows, offering them a chance to live with dignity and hope.
