On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation will host a Widows Fundraising Luncheon at CB’s Restaurant, Maritime House, Freetown. This inspiring event is dedicated to supporting widows and underprivileged women, providing them with crucial resources and opportunities for stability, independence, and renewed hope.
Widows and women from communities across Freetown, including Congo Town, Hill Cut, Dwazark, and Falcon Street, will come together for this special luncheon. Hawa Bintu Dauda, the foundation’s Acting Programs Officer, emphasized the luncheon’s transformative purpose, saying,
“This event is more than just a luncheon; it’s an opportunity to drive positive change for widows and their families.”
In Sierra Leone, widows face profound challenges as they often serve as primary providers and the backbone of their households. Limited by financial and social obstacles, many of these women struggle to access essential resources and meaningful employment. The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation seeks to break these barriers by providing economic support, helping widows rebuild their lives and create brighter futures for their families.
This luncheon is a call for our community to come together and make a lasting difference in the lives of these resilient women. By attending, you’re not only sharing a meal—you’re standing with women who work tirelessly to support their families despite immense adversity.
