Before December 27th, 2025, many women in Magbafti Village faced daily uncertainty, balancing family responsibilities without access to financial resources or structured support. That changed when the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation (JNJF), in partnership with PrimeTen, officially launched a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) in the village, offering hope, opportunity, and practical tools for empowerment.

The launch event brought together community members, foundation representatives, and partners to celebrate this new chapter. Mr. Abass, JNJF’s Community Development Officer, guided attendees through the workings of the VSLA “box,” showing how the savings and loans system operates and how members can navigate it to benefit their families and community.
Supporting the launch, chair ladies from the Foundation’s VSLA communities in Freetown were also present, offering guidance, encouragement, and their own experiences to inspire the women of Magbafti. Their presence underscored the power of peer support and the value of learning from those who have already walked this path.
Speaking on behalf of PrimeTen, Mr. Tamba Negba expressed appreciation for the collaboration and highlighted the potential of this partnership, “we are excited to work with the Foundation and the women of Magbafti. Together, we can create lasting impact and open doors of opportunity for this community.”

Mr. Koroma, representing the Magbafti Community Chairman, echoed the sentiment, noting: “This is not my first time working with the Foundation, and I know the good work they do. Initiatives like this bring real support and hope to the women here.”
And well, for the women themselves, gratitude was clear. Many expressed relief at having a structured way to save, access small loans, and support one another. Beyond financial tools, the VSLA represents community, dignity, and the beginning of new possibilities.
The launch concluded with a joyful end-of-year celebration, reflecting shared optimism and unity. Laughter and fellowship filled the room, underscoring the strength of partnerships rooted in compassion and shared purpose.

The collaboration between JNJF and PrimeTen is a tangible reminder that sustainable change begins one life at a time. By investing in women, the initiative invests in families, and ultimately in the broader community. Through guidance, opportunity, peer support, and collective effort, stronger communities are being built; rooted in unity, purpose, and hope.
