THE JAMIL AND NYANGA JAWARD FOUNDATION LAUNCHES SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM FOR WIDOWS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW BROOKFIELD’S HOTEL

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation proudly announces the launch of a transformative skills training program aimed at empowering widows through a partnership with New Brookfields Hotel. This initiative equips participants with essential hospitality skills—housekeeping, catering, and receptionist duties—to enhance their employability, nurture entrepreneurship, and foster financial independence.

Two weeks ago, the program began with Blessing Kanu and Kadiatu Kargbo embarking on their culinary training in the kitchen. At the same time, Neneh Kanu and Kadiatu Koroma embraced their roles in the hospitality department. The participants are enthusiastic and grateful for the chance to rebuild their lives and create brighter futures for their families.

Kadiatu Koroma reflected on the significance of the training, stating, "This program means everything to me. After losing my husband years ago, it has been a challenge to support my children. Acquiring these skills will open doors I never imagined possible. I sincerely thank the foundation and New Brookfields Hotel for this opportunity."

Neneh Kanu echoed these sentiments, highlighting the renewed sense of purpose she has gained. “This internship goes beyond job training; it’s about restoring my confidence and showing my children that we can overcome obstacles. For the first time in a long while, I feel hopeful.”

Blessing Kanu and Kadiatu Kargbo, who are currently in the kitchen, shared their excitement. "Cooking has always been my passion," Blessing Kanu mentioned. "Now, I can turn that passion into a career and support my family." Kadiatu Kargbo added, "Working in a professional kitchen is a dream realized. I am learning so much, and I can already envision the positive changes this training will bring to my life."

Hawa Bintu Dauda, acting Programs Officer at the foundation, emphasized the program's potential for transformation. "This initiative goes beyond mere skill acquisition. It equips widows with essential tools for financial independence, enhances their mental well-being, and helps them balance family responsibilities. We believe our partnership with New Brookfields Hotel will foster lasting, positive change for many women."

Beyond technical skills, the training program encourages social connections and community among participants, offering flexible opportunities that allow individuals to manage training while fulfilling family commitments.

Paul Suffield, Director of New Brookfields Hotel, expressed pride in collaborating on this impactful initiative. A hotel representative stated, "We are honored to support such an inspiring program. Our team is dedicated to providing hands-on training and mentorship to help participants thrive in the hospitality industry."

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation continues demonstrating its commitment to empowering vulnerable women through innovative programs and partnerships. The foundation instills hope in those facing life's most significant challenges by equipping widows with the tools to learn, grow, and succeed.
