A Silent Struggle with Chronic Pain
In the heart of Sierra Leone lives Cordelia I. King, a widow quietly battling a condition that affects millions worldwide arthritis. For Cordilia, this chronic illness has left both her feet in constant pain, making it difficult to walk or carry out daily tasks. Each step is a reminder of the physical and emotional weight that health challenges can bring, especially in communities where access to consistent medical care is limited.
“I am unwell both of my feet ache due to arthritis, and I cannot walk properly,” Cordelia shares. “I’ve been going to the hospital, and I want to say thank you. The money you have been sending me is what I use to do physiotherapy.”

Through Hope and Consistent Support:
Cordelia's story might have remained one of quiet suffering, but thanks to the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation, her narrative is shifting from pain to progress. Through the Foundation’s Widow Support Initiative, she now receives financial aid that allows her to attend regular physiotherapy sessions. These sessions are helping to relieve her symptoms and restore some level of mobility and comfort to her life.
“Mr. and Mrs. Jaward, I truly appreciate your help,” she says with heartfelt gratitude. “May God bless you both.”
What may seem like a small act of kindness to some has become a life-changing lifeline for Cordelia.
The Foundation’s Mission:
Empowerment and Healing
The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation is committed to restoring dignity and hope to widows and underserved women across Sierra Leone. Health issues like arthritis, when left untreated, can strip individuals of their independence and quality of life. Our support programs aim to bridge this gap providing financial assistance, access to medical care, and the emotional support these women desperately need.
Through initiatives like the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA), widow support groups, and community outreach programs, JNJF empowers women to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives with strength and pride.
Why Stories Like Cordelia's Matter
Cordelia's journey serves as a powerful reminder: every life touched by compassion creates a ripple of change. Her ability to walk with less pain, attend therapy sessions, and feel seen and supported is a testament to the difference we can make together.
These are not just charitable acts they are investments in human dignity and resilience.
