The Cassel Farm Widows’ Community came alive with joy and celebration as a new 10,000-liter clean water tank was officially commissioned under the Cassel Farm Widows’ Community Clean Water Project. Sponsored by Securiport and implemented in partnership with the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation, the project supports women’s VSLA groups. It brings lasting relief to a community that has long struggled to access clean and safe water. For many residents, the daily challenge of walking long distances and staying out late at night to fetch water had become a painful reality. This project marks the end of that struggle. With the installation of the water tank, residents, especially widows and children, now enjoy easy access to clean water within their community.

The improvement in hygiene and sanitation reduces health risks and restores dignity to families. The event was witnessed by community leaders, including the local Chief, Pastor, and Imam, who all expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Foundation and its sponsors for addressing one of the community’s greatest needs. They emphasized that access to clean water will not only enhance sanitation but also protect children and young girls from the dangers of traveling long distances at night, helping to prevent school dropouts and teenage pregnancies. Representing the Ministry of Social Welfare, Mr. Musa Conteh, Senior Social Services Officer, commended the Foundation for its continued work in improving the lives of widows in Sierra Leone. He praised the initiative as a model of community empowerment and expressed his excitement at witnessing such a transformative project.

Delivering remarks at the event, Mr. Abraham Mansaray, General Manager of Securiport, expressed his delight in being part of a partnership that creates tangible change.“At Securiport, we believe in innovation that uplifts communities. Supporting this project with the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation aligns with our mission to deliver smart solutions that make a difference not just at borders, but in people’s lives. Through initiatives like this, we fulfill our corporate social responsibility by contributing to the well-being and development of communities in Sierra Leone,” he said.

Mr. Mansaray officially unveiled the water tank and cut the ribbon, marking the completion of this impactful project. In appreciation of his efforts, the Cassel Farm community crowned him with a chief title, recognizing Securiport’s contribution to making clean water accessible and improving community life through the Foundation’s efforts.

The widows of Cassel Farm were overjoyed, singing and dancing in appreciation to both the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation and Securiport for bringing lasting change to their lives. Their excitement and gratitude filled the air, symbolizing renewed hope for a better future. Beyond providing clean water, this project will also serve as a sustainable income source for the widows’ VSLA group. Proceeds from water usage will support business loans and provide seed capital for startups, helping these women expand their businesses and gain financial independence.
As the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation continues its mission to empower widows across Sierra Leone, initiatives like the Cassel Farm Water Project stand as a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to transforming lives, one community at a time.
